Description
“People used to say to us: ‘Watching you two idiots is just like going fishing with my mate’; and we took that as a big compliment,” Trev Pritchard.
Following on from their successful ‘Day Ticket’ series, Rich & Trev had always been hopeful of another crack at ‘the TV thing’, mainly due to such positive feedback from the fishing public.
In this fantastic five-part series you can join the troublesome twosome as they track down various species on rivers, streams and lakes.
The boys’ new offering is effectively a continuation of the Rich & Trev story - two normal guys heading for the river or lake, having a laugh, and catching some quality fish to boot, with the camera just a ‘fly on the wall’.
Stream Valley (24 mins)
As if fishing wasn’t difficult enough, Rich and Trev try to make their task harder by using antique tackle (...it seemed like a good idea at the time). Apart from the chance to endlessly take the Mickey out of each other (as usual) their day at Stream Valley Fishery in East Sussex also offers the boys the potential of carp from two inches long, to a potential 35lb.
Tanyards Fishery (25 mins)
Plenty of laughs and the odd personal best too, as Rich and Trev take a tour of Tanyards Lakes in East Sussex. There are laughs all the way and plenty of the usual wind-ups, especially as Trev’s gear somewhat lets him down when he finally hooks into something decent! These lakes hold carp to 39lb and Rich hooks into one of the brutes, but can he actually reel the beast in?
Carp On The Fly (24 mins)
Things kick off with a few tangles at Hazel Copse Fishery in Surrey as Rich and Trev brush up their fly fishing skills by trying to catch a few rainbow trout. Now feeling brave they attempt to entice carp off the surface with imitation mixers. The weather's not exactly on their side, but with a little help they manage to fool battling fish well into double figures.
River Kennet – Wasing Estate (19 mins)
The Kennet between Newbury and Reading in England is one of Rich's favourite venues, although Trev doesn't initially seem overly impressed. This narrow stretch belies what's beneath the fast flowing water ¬- the water is renowned for holding barbel well into double figures, plus quality chub, big perch and pike to over 20lb....
Halifordmere Pike (23 mins)
Rich and Trev don their one-piece suits and woolly hats and head off for some winter pike fishing at Halifordmere in Surrey. Beginning in darkness, the boys try to catch a big’un at the trout fishery, which is noted for pike running to over 30lb. The boys chop and change between lure fishing with plugs and spinners and using floatfished, static and popped-up trout deadbaits. And it's literally a double take as the Halifordmere fish seem to come in pairs!
